We mourn the unexpected loss of our beloved teacher, Rabbi Reuven Cohn z'l.  Reuven touched so many with his brillant teaching and guidance and we are so grateful for his many years of teaching and mentorship.  Pease see below for information on a night of learning in his honor.

There will be an evening of learning, tribute, and appreciation in memory of our dear teacher and friend, (Rabbi) Reuven Cohn z”l on Thursday night, Nov. 2, at 6:45 PM at Maimonides School.  The memorial is co-sponsored by Shaarei, CJP, Hebrew College, the Meah program, and Ma’aayan.

At the memorial, the Cohn family will lead us in a Siyyum (ceremony of completion) of the entire Mishnah.  You may sign up to participate in this collaborative learning effort by clicking here.  You may choose to learn an entire tractate of the 63 tractates of the Mishnah, which can be accessed online here, or even a single mishnah teaching.  It matters not if you participate in large or small measure, the important thing is for us to honor our teacher Reuven’s memory through Torah study.  For those who don’t know where to begin, consider either “Berakhot” or “Ethics of our Fathers.”  Choose a mishnah teaching, read it, and ask three questions. The rest, as the Talmud says, is commentary…

Before your study, recite:

לזכר ולעילוי נשמת הרב ראובן צבי בן הרב משה ישעיה הכהן ודבורה בריינה
LeZeceher u-leIluy Nishmat HaRav Reuven Tzvi ben HaRav Moshe Yeshayah HaKohen uDevorah Breina

In memory of Rabbi Reuven Zvi Cohen HaKohen, son of Rabbi Moshe Yeshaya HaKohen and Devorah Breina

All of Reuven’s students and admirers, youth and adults, are encouraged to participate in the memorial learning and/or the memorial event.
